Hey, Mike.
Hope to see you when you're in Pennsylvania.

i had resolved in my mind to leave the world of witnesses and former witnesses behind.
then september 11th happened, and this community was a wonderful support.
then the un fiasco happened, and i was amused.
Hey, Mike.
Hope to see you when you're in Pennsylvania.

another point brought out in the "letter":.
the fact that just any "two or three" eyewitnesses are not sufficient.
according to the letter, they have to be two or three credible eyewitnesses.. in a court of law, the character of any witnesses is extremely important.

The fact that just any "two or three" eyewitnesses are not sufficient. According to the letter, they have to be two or three credible eyewitnesses.
In a court of law, the character of any witnesses is extremely important. However, they are well defined: Honest, trustworthy, good charcter, exemplary citizen, taxpayer, respectfully dressed...all of these things are important in a court of law. Even young children can be credible witnesses in a court of law.
But...What defines a credible witness in the Society's eye for judicial matters? My experience tells me that they would have to be regular in the field ministry, spiritually mature, respected in the congregation, examples to others within the congregation, and regular at the meetings.
In the Society's eyes, are any of the following credible eyewitnesses?: Children, irregular Publisher's, disfellowshipped or disassociated ones, non-JW's, those irregular with meeting attendance, those not reaching out, and those that may not be moderate in their dress and grooming.
Basically, the Society has given itself absolute power in deciding who is credible and who is not. They are, in essence, telling certain ones who come forward with an allegation: "Nice story. However, we don't think you're good enough to be believed."
Nice policy for the so-called Christian Congregation!
Edited for a typo!
as most of you know, i am an 'undercover brother' (someone who appears to be an exemplary jw but is making strides on escaping).. my wife is a loyal jw.
since we had the book study last night i needed to tape the show.
(by the way, my wife knows about my doubts...).
Hi, PraiseJah.
Welcome to the Board. May you find comfort here at this site!
Your story and perspective are interesting. Let everyone here get to know you. Perhaps you can start a new thread introducing yourself.

Hey, SYN...
I must have been the only one watching TV in the 70's when I was a kid!
Everyone else on this Board must've been going door-to-door at the time.
LOL!
One more...
Remember these shows?:
ok i visited the about.com forum (christianity - general) to see if anyone there mentioned the dateline story and sure enough there was a mention of it.
a jw replied to it and i couldn't resist but to post a different view of the situation.
she of course replied to me and much of what she said is very distrubing and some of it is out right lies.
What are you trying to say, Musto?
Anyway, who really is your brother?
Also, how do you know if the person on the other side of the debate is a JW or not?
Doesn't wisdom indicate that it is better to be safe and refrain from debates (from a JW perspective)?
Heck, if "loyal" JW's really think about it (take note You Know, Matrix, et al...), NO ONE from the Society (i.e., J.R. Brown) comes to this Board to "defend" the faith. So, why not follow their lead?

TheStar-
Kindly inform this person that they are going DIRECTLY against the reasoning that the GB used when they said that they don't believe a public forum is a place to air problems or concerns.
With that type of reasoning NO JW should be on these public forums trying to defend their faith.

Yo, Adrianne...I mean...mrs rocky2-
Excellent points you brought out.
Thank you!
do you remember those little demonstrations that are given at assemblies?
did they give the characters in the demo names to match their character at yours?
for example brother lee love, brother stressed, sister mature, sister nervous, brother joyful and my all time favourite sister new-in-the-truth!.
Sister Depressed.
Brother Weak.
Sister Inactive.
